Two posts in a matter of minutes, eh? We’re not keeping this up!

Oh well, thanks very much to the Well-Red Mage for giving us at Stuff and That our first ever “Liebster Award”, something we’ve been hoping for for a while. SpeedySailor is all of us on this website, but me (Reuben) and Milo are the ones who represent it. Us mugs are about as stupid as a dog on rollerskates, but hey, we got the award. The rules for nominees (of which there will be 11) are as follows:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and answer the 11 questions they’ve written for you.

2. Nominate 11 different people and give them 11 questions to answer.

Dat ol’ Mage Gave Us These Questions:

1. DC or Marvel?

Reuben: Marvel. So much good films over DC other than The Dark Knight Trilogy. Also Spider-Man.

Milo: DC, though Marvel put out some great cinematic output.

2. Favourite console?

Reuben: I’d say the 3DS. Although I love the Gamecube and am nostalgic for it, the 3DS has a fantastic games library and has the 3D – which is amazing for games, no question.

Milo: Probably the PS2, for a mix of nostalgia and some absolutely legendary exclusives.

3. Favourite video game?

Reuben: Rayman Origins.

Milo: Though a questionable choice, I’d have to go for Just Cause 2.

4. Favourite character or franchise that needs a comeback?

Reuben: Super Monkey Ball. And a good comeback. Advance Wars is close behind, though. And I would love to see Milo’s choice coming back too.

Milo: Another weird choice, but I’d love to see another Metal Slug game.

5. Favourite film?

Reuben: Probably The Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers, but Return of the King is sometimes my favourite too.

Milo: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, it literally has everything that is amazing.

6. Favourite book?

Reuben: The Adventures of Tintin: Flight 714.

Milo: My favourite graphic novel is The Killing Joke. My favourite normal book is probably Grasshopper Jungle.

7. Favourite non-gaming past-time?

Reuben: Music, films, football, and comics.

Milo: Watching films, listening to music, reading comics and judging people I don’t know.

8. Favourite thing about blogging and your blogging goals?

Reuben: The opportunity it gives me to write what I want about the stuff I love, and I would love to get up to 100 views per day and get that sweet, sweet WordPress dolla dolla.

Milo: It’s a great thing to pour my creativity into. I love being able to write about the things I love and making something pretty cool for people to (hopefully) enjoy. Oh, and that sweet WordPress dolla.

9. Favourite thing you find most inspiring in life?

Reuben: Something amazing that has been man-made and the eternal message of Christianity.

Milo: I get inspired when I watch, hear, read or play something incredible. It makes me want to try and reach something on the same level.

10. What can the Well-Red Mage blog do to improve? (Well-Cheeky Question, Mister Mage. Oh well, we might do the same thing.)

Reuben: A different background colour for the site would be nice, but that’s just my opinion. Also, the 8-bit Review segment of the review doesn’t necessarily need to be there. It’s like a review after a review. Even so, if it’s a feature you want to keep unique to you feel free to keep it.

Milo: Maybe branch out of video games and review movies or books or whatever.

11. What’s a game you think the Well-Red Mage should review?

Reuben: I’d like one of Rayman Legends.

Milo: Psychonauts would be my recommendation.

I, as Reuben, am pretty proud of this lil’ nomination. Thanks for liking our crap, and without further adieu, see ya.

Bringing redundant opinions for scrollers everywhere,

Reuben.

Lots of hugs, kisses and lacerations

  1. Not sure if this is where I leave this, but I’d like to thank SpeedySailor for the Liebster Award Nomination!
    1. Favourite Movie?
My all-time favorite (sorry, I’m American, so no “u”) movie is Once Upon a Time in America from Sergio Leone. I picked it up randomly one day at Blockbuster not knowing what I was getting into. Four hours later and it had changed my life. I’ve seen it probably ten times now. I watch it at least once a year.

    2. Favourite Video Game?
This is a tough one, the games I remember most fondly from childhood are Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Fable, Goldeneye, Mario Kart. But for the game that I just truly love, I think it would have to be Red Dead Redemption.

    3. Favourite Genre Of Music?
I like rock, some alternative. Music isn’t really my thing.

    4. Favourite Book?
Probably “The Goldfinch” by Donna Tartt

    5. Favourite TV Show?
Breaking Bad…all the way. One of the greatest series to ever air on television.

    6. Favourite Band?
Again, music isn’t really my thing, but it usually is a three-way-tie between Dragonforce, The Beatles, and Iron Maiden.

    7. DC or Marvel?
I’d have to say Marvel, they seem to have their crap together far better than DC.

    8. Console of Choice?
It’s pretty split between PS4 and XBONE, each has their pros and cons.

    9. Favourite Thing About Stuff And That? (To boost our egos)
I like the design and layout along with the solid content!

    10. Least Favourite Thing About Stuff And That? (To humble us after)
Haven’t found anything noticeably bad, so you’re good for now 😛

    11. Why Did You Start Blogging?
I had to create a blog for a journalism class I took. Once it was over I figured I should keep it going, and I have been for almost three years now!

  2. Thanks for the nomination!
I haven’t got a 3DS yet, but I’m saving up for one. Hope I’ll get it in time for Pokemon Sun and Moon’s release. I’m planning to play that, Fire Emblem Fates and Bravely Default. Any other titles to recommend?
Loved Scott Pilgrim vs the World too! It was super awesome! Michael Cera was born to play Scott Pilgrim.

    • You know, it seems I’m awful at replying to people. Did you ever get a 3DS? And if you have, which games have you got? Currently eagerly awaiting Sun and Moon at the moment myself. I guess I’d recommend Star Fox 64 3D, Kid Icarus Uprising, Luigi’s Mansion 2, Mario Kart 7 and Super Smash Bros., mainly.

      • I’m guessing wordpress didn’t notify you? Happened to me too.
I didn’t. Something came up and I didn’t manage to save up for it. Still wondering if I should get a 2DS though, or just wait for the Switch, seems like it maybe be a better platform and Smash, Mario Kart etc are bound to come to it. But I’ll be missing out on Pokemon though… gah.

      • Well, the 3DS would be cheaper and has a much bigger games library than the Switch will have for a while, and has great Pokémon, Smash and Mario Kart games on it already — and if you do get a 3DS I’d recommend getting one with 3D, since that feature is really cool. Even so, if you want a console choice for the future, the Switch will be more beneficial, because that will run for much longer than the 3DS, which is apparently finishing production in 2018. I would recommend getting a 3DS while you still can, anyway.

      • That’s a good point. I’ve have to consider it some more. Hopefully I’ll be able to save up enough to get one with 3D, I really want to have it as an option, but if money is limited, I think I would opt for 2DS instead of not getting one. Ah, that’s earlier than I expected, but I guess they’re trying to replace it with Switch.Hopefully, I’ll be able to get it before that.
