Alright, you’re back! So, I thought we’d kick this badboy off with a great song from my favourite album: Warm Tape – Red Hot Chili Peppers. Check the unofficial video here:
Alrighty, we all know my adoration of By The Way and my ranking of it against the rest of RHCP’s albums (ahem ahem), and this song, in collective with many others from the album, is a large part of why I love it so much. Among other things, this song perfectly encapsulates the overall atmosphere of the entire album; ambient love and friendship. As well as this, it also showcases some brilliant layering of sounds to create something that, while fitting so well, also stands apart. Instantly notable is the light, winding synth lead that guides the song, I love how it creates a really soft style song that compliments perfectly with the melodic bassline and sparkly drumming. This leads into a slightly punchier chorus in which the guitar parts of the legendary Frusciante come into focus. While it isn’t his most amazing work in the slightest, it’s noodly style, as well as that layering that I mentioned before, brings the track into some great focus. According to trustworthy sources (Wikipedia), Frusciante has said that writing this album was one of the happiest moments of his life and, with songs like this on it, it isn’t hard to see why.
I enjoyed writing this a lot and I hope you lot liked it as well. Hopefully, I can spin this into a functioning series.
Lots of hugs, kisses and lacerations
